Day 10: Reddington Pass

Good news: Parker is hiking w/me for the week! We slept in a little after yesterday’s long, late day, and hit the trail around 0800. It has been so nice to have his company today: another person to check my navigation skills, someone to listen to me complain, and someone to blame for the forgotten candy bars at dinner time!

Bad news: we walked in the cold rain & wind all damn day. C’mon— its Arizona … where’s that famous sunshine and dry air!

Good news: the rain stopped about an hour before we quit for the day (I may have urged us to stop early to take advantage of the weather break after last week’s missed opportunity in that department) and we found a nice camp site near a creek to call home for the night.

Better news: according to the weather experts we consulted on the trail (aka day hikers who had access to internet/weather info today), tomorrow is supposed to be sunny & dry for our climb up Mt Lemmon (back up to 8000’ again … are you sensing a theme?)

Overall today was a win … any day on the trail w/my sweetheart that ends w/a belly full of re-constituted lasagne, and early bed time in a warm, dry (ish) tent is a win!

Daily Miles: 15.5
Total Miles: 168.4
